Please note: This is an unpaid internship.Funded by the Department
of State's Bureau for Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM),
the Remote Placement Community Partner Program (RPCP) is a
sub-program of the federal Reception and Placement (R&P)
program. Through the RPCP program, community groups across the
country provide initial resettlement services to newly arriving
refugees as they transition into a state of self-sufficiency. The
headquarters resettlement team provides technical assistance and
guidance to community partners regarding the delivery of core
services, as well as ensuring services are being documented per
federal guidelines.
SCOPE OF WORK: The R&P Intern will work to support the national
management of the RPCP R&P program, primarily managing
administrative elements of the program. This includes quality
assurance of client case files, tracking arrivals and program
spending, and supporting the development and delivery of training
materials to community partners. She/he will work directly under
the supervision and guidance of the Program Officer for Expanded
Placement.
COMMITMENT: Minimum 3 months, 10-20 hours a week with the
possibility of extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Maintain Client Case Files: In collaboration
with the Program Officer for Expanded Placement, ensure that
R&P case file documentation uploaded by partners is reviewed
and placed in the appropriate folders. Follow up with partners on
missing documentation. Ensure contact information is up to date for
all clients to assist with scheduling client check-ins as needed.-
Update Team Trackers: Regularly update trackers related to program
implementation (grant spending, client arrivals, etc.) and be
prepared to share updates with the program team as needed.-
Resource and Training Development: Update resources and training
materials as needed and manage logistics for partner training
(scheduling, sending Zoom invitations, sending follow-up, etc.).-
Attend Team Meetings and Provide Updates: When available,
participate in team meetings, take minutes, and distribute notes to
team members as needed. Provide regular updates on the status of
tasks and projects.- Assist with Additional Tasks as Needed: Take
on other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the
Program Officer, Expanded Placement, or others on the team. Be
adaptable and willing to contribute to various parts of the project
and/or team overall.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:- The intern will develop a strong
understanding of the US resettlement program, including program
design, service implementation, reporting procedures, quality
assurance, and best practices for case management.- The intern will
enhance skills in adult learning techniques, data collection,
knowledge management, and visual presentation.
REQUIREMENTS:- Enrolled in Bachelor's degree or Master's degree.
Coursework in international studies, social work, data analytics,
or a related field preferred- Interest in the U.S. resettlement
program or immigrant service provision- Excellent data analysis and
excel skills (coding skills optional)- Strong data visualization
and writing skills, including the ability to effectively distill
and present complexinformation in a concise, accessible way-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,
Outlook, Teams), Zoom
